Literacy
Poetry
For the rest of the half term Year 2 will be looking at different types of poems.
We began this topic with listening to and learning 'The Owl and The Pussycat' by Edward Lear.
Instructions
Year 2 have now moved on from 'Not Now Bernard' to understanding and writing our own instructions. We began by playing Snakes and Ladders, following all of the instructions given to us. We have been looking at features of instructions and what these tell us.
Year 2 really enjoyed following the instructions to 'What Time is it Mr Wolf?' on Monday afternoon (28.09.2020) and could retell the instructions after this.
On Tuesday (29.09.20), Year 2 drew a set of instructions for how to play hop scotch. We then played the game, ready to order and write our own instructions further on in the week

Not Now Bernard
In Literacy we have been reading 'Not Now Bernard'. The children really enjoyed reading this book, so we did some 'talk for writing' and learnt the story.
The children then changed some events in the story to create their very own version of 'Not Now Bernard', which was also the first story they have written in Year 2 - and they were absolutely amazing!
