Miss Pickering

Welcome to Year 1

A very warm welcome to Year 1.

This page will display information about what we will be doing in Year 1 throughout the year.

Each half term a new Homework Menu and Newsletter will be available, plus useful information and links to some activities you can access at home to support your child's learning.

Home Learning

All of the staff in school are so impressed by the amount of effort being made to learning at home.

Thank you to all children and parents/carers for bearing with us through this unfortunate event! Your fabulous support has made everything so much easier and we cannot show our appreciation enough.

Well done to  Sienna  - this week's star of the week! : )

Hello Year 1,

I hope you are all OK.

Please see the links below to access all of your home learning options this week.

I have really enjoyed seeing your lovely pictures on portfolio and into the year one email inbox

Do keep sending in updates and if you have any queries or requests for alternative activities to suit your child then please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to help!

Dojo’s are being awarded for any activities completed, whether this is from the home learning packs or something alternative you have done, and a star of the week will continue to be selected every week.

Thank you,
Miss Pickering

Miss Cole has put this fantastic Forest School booklet together full of practical ideas for you to try!

PE Days

These are Wednesday and Thursday throughout Spring term  - please ensure full kits are in school and earings are covered up.

Book Changing

We will change books at least twice a week. Please ensure you sign your child's reading record and they bring their book and record into school daily.

If you would like your child to drink milk in a morning then please sign up to this at the office.

Please ensure names are put into pupils clothing. Things in year 1 do sometimes go missing and it is very tricky for us to find if it has no name on it.

Pupils can buy a round of toast at morning break if they bring in 20p. It is their responsibility to keep this safe until break time.

Children are asked to hand in their homework on a Wednesday morning. The books will be marked and children are given rocket points to reward their hard work.

By the end of year 1 children are expected to be able to read and write the year 1 common exeption words from memory. The attached sheet will enable you to assist your child with this at home.
