Our Forest School journey continued by starting with the children collecting leaves and naming them. We then went over the names of the trees and looked at seasonal changes to the trees.
The children then learnt the 'Fire Pit Rules Chant' - Don't cross the fire pit, don't cross the fire pit. Go round the back, go round the back.
Year 2 then looked at what we relied on for shelter in the past and how natural materials were used, such as: wood, caves and animal skins for waterproof shelter. The children then had the chance to make their own shelters using plastic tarps, mallets and pegs. The dens were made to be temporary, so that the children knew that they could travel with you.
We ended our session with apple tasting and speaking about all English varieties of apples.
