Maths
At St. Nicholas we believe children should be encouraged to develop a resilient and positive attitude to mathematics. Using the Lancashire Red Rose scheme, we employ a mastery-led approach, meaning all pupils succeed before moving on to new material or ideas. To do this, we provide same day intervention for those who are not sufficiently fluent, so that they are ready to continue their learning the following day with increased confidence. Becoming fluent in counting and in times tables are particularly important in securing mathematical processes and regular practice at home and school is necessary for children to achieve their full potential.
